VIDEOCONFERENCE

In a nutshell

Video conferencing provides the availability of synchronous (real-time) communication between people located in two or more remote locations.

Communication between participants includes the exchange of video, audio and data, enabling full interaction and simulating as much as possible face-to-face communication.

    What does it need?

    The technical requirements for participating in the video conference are the existence of : a) a fast Internet connection, b) a web camera c) a microphone and headphones.

    What is provided?

    The Network Operations Center (NOC) provides a wide range of videoconferencing services in the office, depending on the requirements of each case, technical feasibility and availability.

    • e:Presence service. The e:Presence service is provided by E.D.E.T. and is used primarily for the meeting of electoral bodies. 
    • WebEx Meetings service. The WebEx Meetings service is provided by CISCO, it offers users the video conferencing service from a personal computer (via a web browser).
    • GoogleMeet Service: GoogleMeet service is provided by Google, it offers users the video conferencing service from a personal computer
    • BBB service. The BBB service is provided by eClass or Synergasia. To activate it is necessary to send an application to eClass.

    Generic Use

    The use of the service is indicated in cases like the following:

    • A meeting of several people for collaboration within the framework of a research program or working group, with the need for a presentation by some members of the group and for the rest of the members to follow the presentation.
    • Meeting of a limited number of people to discuss specific topics in research activities.
    • Educational meetings between professors and students to solve questions or to coordinate working groups.
