New “UniFlix” Live Streaming and Videolectures Platform at the University of Athens

The Network Operations Center of National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, is pleased to inform the academic community of the successful launch of the new multimedia content management and streaming platform named UniFlix, which has been fully operational since February 2026.

UniFlix represents a radical upgrade and evolution of the previous infrastructure (OpenDelos), offering a modern, integrated, and user-friendly environment for the live streaming, recording, management, and search of academic lectures and events.

The primary goal of the service is to enhance the educational process with synchronous and asynchronous e-learning tools, which always serve to support and complement in-person instruction.

Key Features and Capabilities:

• Live Streams & Automatic Recordings: Easy scheduling for regular course lectures or special events (e.g., conferences, graduation ceremonies), utilizing the pre-installed equipment (IP cameras) in the institution’s classrooms.
• Rich, Multimodal Content (Video on Demand): A comprehensive playback experience that combines video, audio, subtitles, and fully synchronized slides.
• Direct Integration with open eClass: Ability to easily and automatically upload recorded material directly to the corresponding eClass courses.
• Flexibility in Access & Security: Instructors have full control over their course materials. The platform allows for customized access settings for students based on educational needs. All processes are fully compliant with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

• For Students: UniFlix serves as a central “library” of knowledge, offering powerful search tools (using keywords or subject categories) and the ability to rewatch lectures or participate remotely when in-person attendance is not possible.
• For Teaching and Support Staff: Through its multiple administrative roles, the platform reduces the administrative burden. It allows for the easy delegation of responsibilities and offers full management of course materials according to educational needs.
